これまで潮を拒んできた私の周りの高い壁

このIslandsの前に「Prelude : Song of the Gulls」という曲があるのですが、「えっ1?何の前奏曲??」と思っていたのですが、このIslandsの前奏曲だったんですね。気がつくのにまた数十年かけてしまった。そういう意味ではこの2曲で1セットです。Robert Frippがどういう気持ちで作ったのか分かりませんが、Robert Frippらしくない穏やか～～な曲です。いい曲です。
歌詞は訳したとおりで、擬人化された島、私は、ずっと頑なに外界との接触を拒んできたが、愛がそのこわばりを解き、外界とひとつになることを受け入れる、という内容です。これが、Pete SinfieldのKing Crimsonでの最後の歌詞になると思うのですが、デビューアルバムの代表作Epitaphの反転版のように感じるのは私だけでしょうか。
