1965年にクリスマスアニメ「A Charlie Brown Christmas」(チャーリーブラウンシリーズですね)用に書かれたものだそうです。このアルバムで聴くまでは聴いたことなかったなぁ。ただ、最初にカバーされたのは1982年で発表されてから17年。子どもの頃に聴いた人が大人になってカバーし始めたって感じかな。
アニメ用に書かれた曲とは思えないほど厳かな曲調で、歌詞もしみじみとクリスマスの到来を喜ぶ内容で、落ち着いてクリスマスの雰囲気に浸れる良い曲です。The Manhattan Transferのコーラスは、勿論、最高です。四人でやっているとは思えない広がり。ハーモニーの可能性を感じる仕上がりです。(2019年 3月 2日)
