この歌詞だけ聴くと、何とも他愛のない歌、となるんですが、当時の時代状況、シカゴの音楽の軌跡を見ると、いろいろな意味が込められていることに気づきます。この時は、まだベトナム戦争は続いているのですが、水面下で和平交渉が進められているということも何となく分かっていて、そんな状況を考えると、この歌が歌っているのはベトナム戦争が終わった後の平和なアメリカなのだろうと思います。だから、ここで歌われる他愛もない風景が何とも貴重なんですね。あと、ここには、シカゴが「革命、革命と言ってきたけど、路線変えるわ」というのも何となく込められているように思います。これは、深読みのしすぎかな。
